The Calvary of Notre-Dame Church in Gurunhuel, a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany, France, is a 16th-century granite calvary. It has been a historic monument since June 27, 1928.
Description: The cross of the center presents a drum with ecots, excrescences symbolizing the bubons of the plague or the cut branches of a pruned tree. At the top two angels collect the blood of Christ's nailed hands, surrounded on both sides by Saint John and the Virgin. Between these two characters, two angels raise a chalice. At the foot of the cross, a Christ in contempt seems to be lowering his eyes before Longin, the Roman legionary who pierced his flank. To the right and left of Christ, we recognize St Peter holding the keys, and St Paul carrying a sword. On the other side of the cross is a pieta between Mary Magdalene and Mary, Martha's sister, who followed Jesus, and underneath, the archangel Saint Michael terrorizing the dragon. One of the crosses carries the good larron, Dysmas, whose soul, depicted by a small character coming out of his mouth, is collected by an angel.
