About

The International City of Gastronomy of Lyon is a cultural place entirely dedicated to gastronomy, located in the Grand Hôtel-Dieu. This is one of the French cultural facilities with a touristic vocation set up following the registration by UNESCO in 2010 of the French gastronomic meal with the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. It is part of the network of the four cities of gastronomy with Dijon, Paris-Rungis and Tours.

Its thematic red thread is the link between health and diet. Inaugurated on October 19, 2019, it closed its doors with the implementation of the first containment related to the Covid-19 pandemic. On July 6, 2020, the operating company MagmaCultura announced that the city will not reopen due to the heavy impacts of the coronavirus health crisis.

La Cité opens again on 21 October 2022 in a version entirely revised by a committee of local specialists, the Rabelais Committee, with an annual allocation of 1 million euros.
