musée Sainte-Croix
The Sainte-Croix Museum is the largest museum in the city of Poitiers. Built in 1974 on the plans of the poitevin architect Jean Monge, it stands in the place of the former Sainte-Croix Abbey, today in Saint-Benoît. It is a vast concrete and glass structure, in the purest brutalist style of the 1970s.
It is built on an old excavation site in its archaeology department[not clear]. Its rich and diverse collections are exposed through a progressively renewed chronological journey, starting from prehistory and ancient and medieval archaeology to the fine arts while evoking the history of Poitou.
