About

The Palais-Royal Theatre (or Palais-Royal Hall) on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris was the theatre located in the east wing of the Palais-Royal, inaugurated on January 14, 1641, with a tragi-comédie by Jean Desmarets, Mirame. The theatre was used by Molière's troupe from 1660 to 1673 and then, as an opera theatre by the Royal Academy of Music for nearly a century, from 1674 to 1763, when it was destroyed by fire. Reconstructed in 1764 and reopened in 1770, it was again destroyed by fire in 1781 and never rebuilt.
