Musée des Confluences

The Musée des Confluences is a museum of natural history, anthropology, societies and civilizations located in Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Heir to the Musée d'histoire naturel Guimet de Lyon, it was opened in 2014 and housed in a deconstructivist building of the Coop Himmelb(l)au architectural agency, in the district of La Confluence, on the southern tip of the Presqu'île de Lyon, at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône (2nd arrondissement of Lyon). It takes over the collections of the Guimet museum and has the mission to complete this fund with acquisitions.

It is the subject of deposits and loans from various museums and institutions (art and cultural museums, botanical gardens, foundations, religious congregations, etc.) for its temporary and permanent exhibition spaces. The museum has a scenography-oriented activity (cooperation with musical and theatre theatres) and has started that of book publisher (romans around some famous objects of its collection in collaboration with authors of literary texts or drawings and photographs).
