Scenic route
The Grande Traversée 20, GT20 or A Traversata Maiò ("La Grande Traversée" in Corsica) is a cyclotourist route crossing Corsica from north to south, or vice versa, over 598 km in 12 stages, for a cumulative positive climb of 10 047 m. Its circuit starts with the round of Cap Corse from Bastia to the north, continues by the Balagne and then joins the big dorsal to finish at Bonifacio at the southern tip of the island. The main route passes through Bastia, Centuri, Saint-Florent, Belgodere, Calenzana, Galeria, Porto, Col de Vergio, Corte, Ghisoni, Zicavo, Zonza and finally Bonifacio, with local loops allowing to move to other places. Low-traffic secondary roads are preferred for this route, which joins other major cycling routes in metropolitan France, such as the Route des Grandes Alpes or the Route des Pyrénées.
