Jardin extraordinaire
The extraordinary garden is a public park located in Nantes, in the western part of the former Carrière de Miséry, located on the right bank of the Loire, in the Bellevue - Chantenay - Sainte-Anne district. Access to the park is on the south side, from the boulevard de Cardiff and the quai Marquis-d'Aiguillon. This 101st Nantes Park was inaugurated on September 28, 2019.
It has a waterfall of 25 meters high, and is embellished with giant water plants, ivy, banana trees and tree ferns benefiting from the microclimate created by the quarry. A metal staircase designed by François Delarozière, creator of the Island Machines, linking the garden to the Mauritius-Schwob square located at the top of the cliff was installed in October 2020. During the development of the eastern part of the quarry, he had to welcome the Arbre aux Hérons in 2022, a new attraction of the Machines de l'Île, also imagined by Delarozière.
