Château de Montcuq

The Château de Montcuq (or rather its location: the "terre" of Montcuq) was located in the commune of Pomport, Dordogne. All that remains is the terre de Montcuq corresponding to its location. The hundred-year-old stone near this terter indicates that the Hundred-year War in Guyenne began there.

The name Montcuq is sometimes confused with Montcuq-en-Quercy (Lot). "Montenc" is also an erroneous transcription of Montcuq. In 1515, in the tribute of Alain d'Albret to François I, Montcuq was transcribed "Montcriq".
