parc de la Commune-de-Paris
The Parc de la Commune-de-Paris is a green area located in Villeurbanne, in the district of Cusset. With an area of 2.5 ha, it is the largest park in the commune after that of the Feyssine. It is located between Louis Galvani streets in the east and Pierre Voyant in the west.
The park was established in 1966 on land composed of an old farm and centuries-old trees. It is called Chambfort Park and then Pierre-Voyant. In 1973, the farm building was made available to the Cusset Social Centre.
The development as such of the park was carried out in 1978 by increasing its area to the north, and takes its present name. It was finally redeveloped in 2012. A Gallo-Roman funeral stele is erected in the centre of the plane aisle.
It was reportedly recovered by the Beaumont family at the time of the excavations of Fourvière in the early 20th century. Today it has 2,000 plants, shrubs and trees. The park has a 9.80 m high climbing wall with 1,050 catches at different difficulty levels, a petanque field, playgrounds, swings, a fountain, and is equipped with toilets.
