sanctuaire de Pellevoisin
The Sanctuary of Pellevoisin is a diocesan sanctuary of the Catholic Church located on the site of the Marian apparitions of Pellevoisin in Estelle Faguette in 1876 in the commune of Pellevoisin, in the department of Indre in France. Immediately after the "miraculous healing of the seer" and at the request of Madame Marie-Luce, Countess of La Rochefoucauld-Montbel, the Archbishop of Bourges, Bishop of La Tour d'Auvergne, authorized the installation of a "private oratory" in the room of the see, the place of apparitions, dated May 10, 1876. Following the installation of a convent of Dominican contemplative sisters in 1893.
First confined to the only house before the apparitions, the Countess will finance the construction of a building adjacent to this house from her own funds. Completed in 1897, the ground floor of the original house became a convent chapel, in which the private oratory of 1876, the "room of apparitions", became the choir. The fence, solemnly inaugurated on November 9, 1899, will eventually become obsolete when the "nave" of the chapel is opened to believers and pilgrims at the turn of the 2000s.
