About

The Pierre-de-Montreuil Garden is a green space located in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis). The garden is located between Saint-Denis Basilica and the administrative centre of Saint-Denis City Hall. Its public part is accessible by Victor-Hugo Square and the Six-Chapelles alley, two mainly pedestrian lanes.

Its eastern part is not accessible to the public. Also known as "medieral garden", this part houses restoration workshops (forge, stone cutting workshop). In the middle of a garden of aromatic plants is a stone sculpture by Henri Bouchard of 1908 depicting Pierre de Montreuil sitting, holding a rule of architect, looking towards the sky, or rather towards his work, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

This sculpture was originally on the south side of the gardens of Notre-Dame, before being moved to Saint-Denis. The garden is named after the architect Pierre de Montreuil (c. 1200 - 1267).

The garden is classified as historical monuments by order of 19 August 1926.
