La Roche à Pierrot is a former prehistoric rock shelter located in Saint-Césaire in Charente-Maritime, France. His reputation was based on the discovery in 1979 of a Neanderthalian individual, a 40,000-year-old man, who evolved scientific knowledge about that time. The archaeological excavations then carried out shed light on the nature of the site's occupation, first by Neanderthalians and then by Homo sapiens.
