Archaeological site
Combe-Capelle is a set of prehistoric deposits located in the Couze valley on the town of Saint-Avit-Seneur in the Dordogne department (France). Discovered in 1885, it is known for the discovery in 1909 of a human skeleton called the "Man of Combe-Capelle". This paleolithic and mesolithic site is still under excavation and, in 2011, the discovery of a Neanderthalian lissoir renewed interest in the site. The skeleton is at the origin of the summer conferences of the Couze valley held annually in Montferrand-du-Périgord.
