The Route départementale 42, known as Route du Relais due to the presence of relay antennas that it serves, is a departmental road of France located in Savoie and allowing to connect the Avant-Pays Savoyard to the Savoie Propre by passing in the immediate vicinity of the summit of Mont du Chat. It was designed in the early 1960s to allow the construction of the Mont du Chat transmitter and opened to traffic in 1965[ref. necessary].
