About

The Archaeological Museum of the Battle of Gergow is a museum of history and archaeology on the themes of the siege of Gergow, which opposed the arber chief Vercingetorix to Roman general Julius Caesar in 52 BC, and the history of the plateau of Gergow on which he is located. Opened in October 2019 after four years of work, it follows the former Maison de Gergovie created in 1992. According to its architect Jean-Paul Reuillard, the architecture of this 1,200 m2 building is reminiscent of the rampart of Gergau by the use of dry stone as well as the work of the Gallic metallurgyrs with the eminences barred with Corten steel.
