The Château de La Roche-Guyon is a castle located in the French commune of La Roche-Guyon in the Val-d'Oise department at the gates of Normandy on the right bank of the Seine. The former castle in ruins, dominated by its dungeon, at the top of the hillside received important additions in the eighteenth century at the foot of the hillside and a garden and vegetable garden "à la française": the vegetable garden of the Château de la Roche-Guyon. The castle, classified as historical monuments, property of the house of La Rochefoucauld is now managed by a public establishment of cultural cooperation (EPCC) comprising the department of Val-d-Oise, the commune of La Roche-Guyon, the joint union of development and management of the regional natural park of the French Vexin and the state.
Enlarged and embellished on many occasions, especially during important works in the 18th century undertaken by its present owners, the Rochefoucauld, the former stronghold has gradually become a place of appearance.
