agglomération protohistorique d'Aulnat
The protohistoric agglomeration of Aulnat, also known as the agglomeration or site of Aulnat-Gandaillat-La Grande Borne-Le Brezet, is a Gallic agglomeration occupied between the end of the third century BC and the beginning of the first century BC with an estimated area of 150 ha. It is located in the commune of Clermont-Ferrand in Puy-de-Dôme but its name comes from the first discoveries made during the construction of the airbase 745 Aulnat on the neighbouring commune of Aulnat.
History: A Latenian occupation was highlighted at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s thanks to the observations of Jean-Jacques Hatt and Gabriel Fournier in the context of the development of the Aulnat Airbase 745 and prospecting in the surrounding 10 ha. After the Second World War, with the galloping urbanization of the Clermontese agglomeration, point discoveries multiplied but no excavation was carried out.
