stèle de Gibraltar
The Stele of Gibraltar (Xibaltarreko Hilarria in Basque) symbolizes the junction of the three major pilgrimage routes of Compostela (via Lemovicensis, via Turonensis and via Podiensis) between St.Palais and Ostabat. It also marks the starting point of the Navarre Way, which ends in Puente la Reina-Gares. The stele is located at the place known as Gibraltar (in Basque Xibaltar), traditionally associated with Saint-Palais, but it is administratively located in the territory of the commune of Uhart-Mixe. This place is located near the hamlet of Beneditenea, a historic site of convergence of the jacquarian lanes.
