chapelle Saint-Piat de la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres
The chapel Saint-Piat de Chartres is a chapel outside the walls of the cathedral, connected to it by a glass staircase that leads to the old chapel on the first floor. Closed on the visit in 2000, it has for 24 years a long process of research and restoration and reopens on 21 September 2024 in order to exhibit the treasure of the cathedral and a collection of archaeological pieces dating largely from the 13th century. The treasure is presented in the chapel of the first floor and the lapidary depot within the old capitular room located on the ground floor.
Both rooms communicate through a staircase in the south turret. Like the towers and high parts of the cathedral, the building is managed by the National Monuments Centre.
