The Museum of Fine Arts of Chartres, in the French department of Eure-et-Loir, is the main museum of the city. It benefits from the label Musée de France. Located in the former Episcopal Palace, listed as a historical monument in 1906, with an ensemble of the thirteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, next to the famous cathedral, it houses a collection of works of varied art: paintings, drawings, sculptures, art objects, archaeology, furniture, etc. The museum was closed in the first half of 2017, and reopened on 1 July 2017, with free access, except during temporary exhibitions.
