About

The Kemp is a former silk and then weapons factory located in Vienna in the Isère department in France, mainly known as the historic place of residence and social life of the Armenian Viennese community between the 1920s and 1960s. The name "Kemp", which corresponds to the word "camp" spoken to the American [khs"mp], used by the inhabitants in reference to the known refugee camps during their exile following the Armenian genocide or the Armenian orphan camps in Lebanon and Syria. The same name is also given to a former factory inhabited by Armenian refugees in Valencia.
