The Aurillac Museum of Art and Archaeology, located 37 rue des Carmes in the former Visitandine convent in Aurillac, Cantal, is a French art museum. Labeled "Musée de France", the municipality built it in 1992 in a 17th century building which was first a convent of visitandines and then a national stud from the 19th century until the 1980s. Initiated in 1853, the date of creation of the Museum of Paintings then led by the Aurillacian painter Éloy Chapsal (1811-1882), after various groups in various places in the city, the museum is finally linked to the cultural centre Pierre-Mendès-France within the same building in 1992. Closed in September 2023 as part of a restructuring, it reopened on Sunday 23 June 2024, enriched with new collections, some of which come from the Volcano Museum.
