The Fontenoy pyramid is a modern obelisk erected in 1750 in honour of Louis XV. It commemorates the king's stay at Cysoing, at the beginning of the campaign against the Austrian Netherlands, whose French victory a few months later at the Battle of Fontenoy in May 1745 was the peak. The monument has been listed as a historic monument since 1840 (on the first list).
