The hotel of Gesvres is a large private hotel built in 1655 for Joachim de Seiglière, the financial intendant of the "Grand Monsieur", Gaston d'Orléans. After Seiglière, the hotel is inhabited by his daughter and her husband, Marquis de Gesvres and soon Duke, who will leave his name to the hotel. The architect of the hotel of Gesvres is Antoine Le Putre, who also built in Paris the Beauvais hotel and the abbey of Port-Royal. Under the Regency, the hotel of Gesvres became the most famous tripot in Paris and the rest under the reign of Louis XV.
