About

The Pietà de Vesoul is a carved group representing the Pietà, also called the Virgin of Mercy: Mary holding Jesus dead at the descent of the cross. The religious sculpture is located inside the church of Saint-Georges de Vesoul, in the French department of Haute-Saône, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Made of white marble, the sculpture was made between 1475 and 1500; it was classified as a historical monument as an object on 30 September 1911.

The Pietà is located in the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the three lateral chapels on the south side. On its basis is registered: Simon / Laurent curé de / Facoigne.
