About

The bridge of Europe is a bridge built on the Mayenne River in Laval. It dates back to 1968 and is the penultimate bridge built in Laval, before Pritz Bridge. It is located in the city centre.

The bridge of Europe communicates Crossardière Street, left bank, with the course of the Resistance and the rue du Vieux-Saint-Louis right bank. The bridge was built from 1967 to April 1968, while car traffic in Laval increased sharply. There were only three road bridges on the Mayenne River.

The bridge of Europe is also located at the site of a bridge built by the American army after the liberation of the city on August 6, 1944. This bridge replaced the Aristide-Briand bridge, which had been energized by the Germans. The bridge is 65 meters long and 15 meters wide.

Its apron consists of two rectangular beams and three slabs. It rests on four piles built on the rock, 4 meters deep.
