tombe de Vix
The tomb of Vix is a princely grave dating from the period of the Final Hallstatt ( dated 470 BC-460 BC), located in the commune of Vix, in the French department of the Côte-d'Or, in Burgundy. This territory was then occupied by the Gaulish people of the Lingons. Discovered in 1953, the tomb of Vix came to us partially preserved.
Due to the importance and quality of its funeral furniture, it is considered a first-rate discovery for the Celtic period. The masterpiece of the tomb is the crater of Vix, of an exceptional size and finish.
