The Château d'Azay-le-Ferron is a French Renaissance castle located on the territory of the commune of Azay-le-Ferron, in the department of Indre, in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
History: It was built from the fifteenth century to the eighteenth century. The building is classified as historical monuments on January 25, 1950. Today the castle belongs to the city of Tours, left in 1952, by the last owners, the Hersent-Luzarche family.
Architecture: Remarkably preserved, it houses magnificent collections of Renaissance, Regency, Louis XVI and Empire furniture.
Park and gardens: Beautiful gardens surround it, attributed to landscape architects Denis and Eugene Bühler: rose garden, French garden, landscaped garden, garden of topiary and cut box, shapes of chess play pieces. The gardens of the castle of Azay-le-Ferron is listed in the List of gardens bearing the remarkable Garden label.
