MuPop, also known as the Museum of Popular Music, is a French museum of popular music, located in Montluçon (Allier). It depends on the Montluçon community.
Description: Actively supported by the Ministry of Culture and Communication and labeled Musée de France, the MuPop houses the largest collection of musical instruments and objects in France since the mid-18th century. It opened its doors on June 21, 2013, Music Day. It is located on a surface of 3,300 m2 in historic hotels in the city centre, the Charnisay and Méchain hotels, which house the instruments collections, while a modern extension welcomes the animation spaces. There are 3500 musical instruments spread over three routes (immersive musical journey, enriched instrumental journey, interactive digital journey), 200 mobile listening points, a temporary exhibition space, a mediation space and a documentation centre.
