château de Thiers-sur-Thève
The castle of Thiers-sur-Thève is a former castle, today ruined, whose remains stand on the French commune of Thiers-sur-Thève, in the department of Oise and in the Hauts-de-France region. The remains of the castle were classified early on as historical monuments by list of 1862. With its enclosure flanked by cylindrical towers, the castle takes on the classic 13th century design, but its large room with a facade pierced with large windows facing outwards is quite exceptional, and does not have its same in Île-de-France.
Here, the military function retreats from the demands of comfort and representation: it is the hunting relay of the bishops of Beauvais. Ruined since 1358 and dismantled around 1431, the castle built after the middle of the 13th century served as a seigneurial castle only for less than a generation until 1276, and overall, the castle had only a short life. Its remains have hosted a logging and agricultural operation for centuries, and now house several housing houses.
