Church building
église Saint-Jacques de Lambour
The church of Saint-Jacques de Labour is a Roman Catholic church in ruins located in Pont-l'Abbé, Brittany. The present building was built from the 13th to the 16th century to serve as a trevial church in the village of Lapper, a suburb of Pont-l'Abbé located in the parish of Combrit. Its Gothic style is surrounded by a pen with a protohistoric low stele.
The bell tower was beheaded by royal troops during the revolt of the red cups in 1675. At the end of the 19th century, the church was in very poor condition and the Pont-l'Abbé City Council decided to remove its roof, which gave it its current aspect of romantic ruin. The building is a historic monument classified since June 30, 1896 and a site classified since November 22, 1934.
Although in ruins, it remains used during the forgiveness of St James in July.
