Church building
église Saint-Paul-des-champs
The church Saint-Paul-des-Champs is a former church in Paris, located in the 4th arrondissement at 30-32 rue Saint-Paul, at the corner of the current Rue Neuve-Saint-Pierre. The chapel built in the 7th century of the cemetery of Saint-Martial Monastery, a women's convent established on the island of La Cité, was replaced by a church that became parish in 1125. Saint Paul became royal parish in the 14th century near the royal residences of the Saint Paul Hotel and the Tournels Hotel. After the demolition of the church from 1796 to 1799, a new parish was formed at the beginning of the 19th century, to which was assigned the church of the former professed house of the Jesuits (Saint-Louis-des-Jésuites church of Paris) which took the double term of Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis church.
