pont Napoléon
The Napoleon Bridge is a work of art located in Lille in the French department of Nord in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. He was named in honour of Napoleon I. Crossing the Middle-Deûle, the bridge has the name of several Napoleonic victories.
The bridge was destroyed in 1918 by the German army during its flight during the First World War. It was partially rebuilt in 1920 and again destroyed by the Germans in 1944. A reconstruction project was planned in 1939; the bridge was reconstructed identically in 2014.
