cimetière militaire de Ranville
The British military cemetery of Ranville is located in the French commune of Ranville (Calvados), on the so-called "Sword" zone, one of the sites of the Allied landing of June 6, 1944. After Bayeux, it is the largest British military cemetery in Normandy. It is one of the three British cemeteries in the Sword area with those of Hermanville-sur-Mer and Dover-la-Delivrande.
To the right of this military cemetery is the church of Ranville and its communal cemetery in which there are about fifty graves of fallen soldiers, the description of which is discussed at the end of this article. Two kilometres from these cemeteries, we find the Pegasus Memorial in Ranville, which traces the history of many of these fighters.
