chapelle de Chanteins
The chapel of Chateins or former church of Chateins, is a chapel located in the hamlet and former commune of Chanteins in the commune of Villeneuve, in the department of Ain, France.
Presentation: The religious edifice is first known as the Assumption before taking that of Saint-Roch. Major works were carried out in 1810 and 1981. The exterior aspect evokes its initial Romanesque architecture of the eleventh century. The building itself is uniquely nave leading to an apse. It is equipped with a single bell tower (single bell) completely rebuilt during the renovation of 1810. Most of the historic furniture of the chapel was moved[When?] in the Church of St.Madeleine including a wooden Christ, a bentier and statues (Saint Roch and a Virgin to the Child). Some elements are at the cure of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne (including five 17th century painted wooden statues). In 2014, it traditionally hosted one mass a year, on August 15.
