The Simone-de-Beauvoir Bridge (originally known as the "Bercy-Tolbiac Bridge") is a bridge dedicated to so-called "soft" modes of transport (pedestrians, bicycles). It is the 37th bridge on the Seine in Paris. It is located between the bridges of Bercy and Tolbiac and connects the banks of the 12th and 13th arrondissements of Paris, or about 304 meters.
Origin of name: In March 2005, Bertrand Delanoë proposed to baptize her with the name of the philosopher, novelist, epistolary, memorialist and French essayist, Simone de Beauvoir, and inaugurated her on 13 July 2006 in the presence of Sylvie Le Bon de Beauvoir, daughter of Simone de Beauvoir.
History: The bridge takes its name by municipal decree of 1 June 2006. The entrance channel of the Ivry Water Station, which began work in May 1764, would be located approximately at the site of the Simone-de-Beauvoir Bridge.
