Canyoneaustrate is a monumental work commissioned by the City of Paris by French painter and plastic artist Gérard Singer (1929-2007) and installed on the eastern parvis of the Palais omnisports in Paris-Bercy in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France. It was officially inaugurated in October 1988 by the Mayor of Paris Jacques Chirac. The name attributed to him by his creator is the contraction of "canyon", "water" and "strata".

Canyoneaustrate

The "Canyoneaustrate" is a fountain composed of a large mirror of water with an overflow of 40 m side, one of which has a hollow sculpture with a low point 5 m deep evoking natural gorges. The water in the basin flows cascade on the walls of this sculpture. The work is made of raw white formwork concrete, dyed in the color of the Paris stone.

Canyoneaustrate

Its elements were made from negative moulds in expanded polystyrene worked with flame, to the real dimension, according to a process invented by the artist. The work is carried out under the direction of André Beaune.
