Roman amphitheatre
amphithéâtre de Limoges
The Limoges Amphitheatre, sometimes called Limoges Arenas, is a Roman amphitheatre built in the second century in the city of Augustorium, today Limoges. This large monument measuring 137 × 116 m is most likely built under the Antonine dynasty. All the remains that were spared by the exploitation of the site that served as a quarry from the High Middle Ages are classified as historical monuments in 1968 but are buried to preserve them.
