The Bellevue British Cemetery Briastre Cemetery is a military cemetery in the territory of the municipality of Briaster, North, located on the outskirts of the town of Briastre.
Location: This cemetery is located at the northeast exit of the village, rue Jean-Jaurès, near the D955.
History: The village of Briaster was occupied by German troops in late August 1914 and remained far from the fighting until October 11, 1918 when the village was taken by New Zealand troops and the 37th British Division. On the 20th, the soldiers seized the Bellevue farm and the cemetery was created on that date to bury the victims of the fighting. In 1922, it was enlarged when 47 graves were imported from the temporary cemetery in the communal cemetery.
Character: This British cemetery in Bellevue now contains 141 First World War burials, including nine unidentified. The cemetery was designed by WH Cowlishaw.
