maison Claude Debussy
Claude Debussy's home, now also known as the Claude-Debussy Museum, is located at 38, rue au Pain in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in the French department of Yvelines. It dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. Claude Debussy was born there on 22 August 1862.
His parents held a trade in earthenware and porcelain. Joined the additional inventory of historical monuments in 1972 and opened to the public in 1990, she exhibited the composer's life and musical documents. It brings together personal objects belonging to Debussy, partitions and iconographic documents.
The interior courtyard of the house includes a 17th-century staircase, which is included in the additional inventory of historical monuments. Classical music concerts are given in the Yvonne Lefébure auditorium, dedicated to the memory of the pianist and music teacher. The home Claude-Debussy is labeled Maison des Illustres.
Closed between 2021 and 2024, the museum reopens after renovation work. At the beginning of July 2025, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron came to inaugurate it.
