grottes troglodytiques de Villecroze
Located in the commune of Villecroze, in the rocky bar that limits the village to the north, in a park of 2.5 hectares, the troglodytic caves of Villecroze, which rise on 5 levels, with its snout windows, its murderers, its stalactites that have gradually turned into columns,... have been occupied since prehistory and successively belonged to the Benedictine monks, to the local lord who strengthened them and are communal property since 1633. Their origin dates back 700,000 years (end of the last ice age). They were first dug and shaped by the water infiltrating into the heart of the tufa cliff and then built.
