About

The Parc de Sceaux, a whole of the Domaine de Sceaux, is owned by the Hauts-de-Seine department and its park extends over the territories of the communes of Sceaux and Antony. The park was designed by André Le Nôtre at the end of the 17th century at the request of Colbert and his son the Marquis de Seignelay. At the Revolution, by the speculations of the Black Band, the estate was looted, sold to a farmer, Jean François Hippolyte Lecomte, and the castle as well as the waterfalls were destroyed.

A new castle was erected in 1856 by his daughter, Anne-Marie Lecomte-Stuart, married to the Duke of Treviso. The park area is 181 hectares: 121 in the commune of Sceaux, 60 in Antony. Since 1937, Château de Sceaux has hosted the collections of the Musée de l'Île-de-France, renowned in 2013 as a museum of the departmental domain of Sceaux.
