Notre-Dame-des-Champs Church is a Catholic building located in the French commune of Avranches in the Manche department of Normandy. The church is listed as historical monuments.
Location: The church is located, Place Carnot, in the commune of Avranches, in the French department of La Manche.
History: The former parish church Notre-Dame-des-Champs was located, as its name indicates, outside the city, to the south. This church of great simplicity is known thanks to a photograph and some engravings. It was founded in the late 12th or early 13th century with its cemetery. It became too small and work became necessary, so it was agreed, around 1855, to build a new building especially after the collapse of St Andrew's Cathedral. Plans and an estimate were drawn up by architect Nicolas Théberge, architect of the English Channel and "child of the parish". The latter was also due to other neo-Gothic buildings such as Saint-Patrice du Teilleul in 1851, Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët in 1855, Saint-Pair de Sartilly or Sainte-Croix de Saint-Lô in 1860.
