casino-théâtre de Châtel-Guyon
The Chatel-Guyon Theatre Casino was created in the early twentieth century. It is located in the thermal park of the city. Listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments since 2003, the Châtel-Guyon Theatre Casino is the symbol of the Belle Époque of the thermal city.
Building: Built on the edge of the thermal park in 1898 by the Parisian architect Albert Le Voisvenel, Châtel-Guyon's casino theatre opens its doors 16 July 1900. As early as 1907, due to a great flood in the station, work on the building was planned. In 1909, Édouard-Jean Niermans, renowned architect and decorator, carried out the work. With Folies Bergère (1900), Moulin Rouge (1903), Olympia's Music Hall Theatre (1904), Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz and the Hotel Negresco in Nice, Niermans expands and embellishes the casino, which doubles its surface. The theatre, on the other hand, is entirely rebuilt on the model of Italian theatres. The floor is lowered by 2 meters and two upper galleries with dressing rooms and balconies are created.
