About

The chapel of the Annonciades is an ancient convent chapel of heavenly annunciades, arrived at Pontarlier in 1612. It is protected from historical monuments. It is located in Pontarlier in the French department of Doubs

History: The construction of the convent of the Annonciades de Pontarlier began in 1612 by Antoine Belin and continued with the chapel and portal by Nicolas Cailler from 1713 to 1715. The sculptures of the vantaux were by Joseph Guyon in 1725. They were expelled by revolutionary laws of 1790. Their order will never return to its original scope. The chapel enjoys two protections for historical monuments: a classification for its portal in 1913, and an inscription for the rest of the chapel in 1936. The portal vantals were also classified as objects in 1913. Desacralized and the only vestige of the old convent, the chapel has become an exhibition room since the end of the years...
