Tasciaca was an ancient vicus (secondary agglomeration), characterized by a collection of Gallo-Roman installations located in the communes of Theseée, Pouillé and Monthou-sur-Cher, on both sides of the Cher, in the French department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Centre-Val de Loire. The name of Tasciaca appears on the table of Puisinger; it designates a stage on the route from Avaricum (Bourges) to Caesarodunum (Tours). The agglomeration, at the limit of the civitates of the Turons, the Carnuts and the Bituriges Cubes, seems to develop from the beginning of our Common Era; It is very active under the High Empire with an important production of common ceramics, glassware and metal objects before declining from the third century, but without being completely abandoned under the Merovingians.
