The Basilica Saint-Savinien or Church Saint-Savinien-le-Vieux is a religious building located on Rue Alsace-Lorraine in Sens, honoring Saint Savinien, known to be the first bishop of Sens. It was built in the year 1068, but houses a much older crypt in its center.

History: The basilica suffered extensive damage due to weather, but also invasions. The building was also degraded due to fire, especially during the Wars of Religion (1567). In addition to the damage suffered, the basilica was destined to be destroyed during the French Revolution. Despite the fact that it was spared, it was looted in 1793 by the inhabitants. In 1796, it was bought by Simon André Blanchet, who participated in the renovation of the basilica four years after its purchase. The last renovation was completed in 1915. Saint-Savinian Basilica has been listed in the Historical Monuments since 1862; Today it belongs to an association.
