chapelle Saint-Jean-du-Liget
The chapel Saint-Jean du Liget, or chapel Saint-Jean-du-Liget or chapel of the Liget, is an ancient chapel located in the commune of Sennevières, in the department of Indre-et-Loire, France. It is probably built around the middle of the 12th century although within a few decades this dating is still being discussed, which maintains uncertainty about the monastic, Benedictine or Cartusian order, which founded it. Similarly, his dedication to Saint John, which could be applied to another monument, was challenged.
It is attached to the Chartreuse du Liget until the French Revolution; It is then that, already ruined, it is sold to private owners and then to the state. The latter began restoration in the 1860s after it was classified as historical monuments in 1862. The chapel has been owned by the municipality of Sennevières since 2007.
