église Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens de Vaux-sur-Seine
Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens Church is a parish Catholic church located in Vaux-sur-Seine, Yvelines, France. From the first parish church, founded in 1154, remains the Western Romanesque portal. From the end of the 12th century, the old chapel remodeled during the parish's erection was successively replaced by the current Gothic building.
The construction site starts with the apse, characterized by a bedside in the hemicycle, and ends with the nave, which is initially coupled with two vaulted collaterals at the same height. This is also a special feature of the church of Vaux. Its great stylistic homogeneity, apart from subsequent changes, and the care given to its decoration, are quite remarkable.
But the church apparently suffered extensive damage during the Hundred Years' War. Its southern collateral is demolished, its bell tower is repaired in a simplified manner, and the nave and its northern collateral are bent around the middle of the sixteenth century or shortly thereafter. The old supports are damaged or replaced by new engaged pillars, and the new vaults are not well suited to the original architecture.
