About

The covered driveway of the Chêne-Hut, also known as the Grotte aux Fées, is located in Lamballe in the French department of Côtes-d'Armor.

Description: The covered alley is bounded by eleven orthostats in gabbro. It is 11 m long for 1.50 m wide and 1 m high on average. Two cover tables are still in place, two others are overturned nearby. The monument was still intact in 1873. Since then, it has collapsed in part and several slabs have been removed to repair the road from Lamballe to Plancoët. The monument was searched in 1845 and 1873. During the excavations of 1873 carried out by Dr. Douillet, he found "polished axes, several flint blades, pottery coats and two polished stone beads".

Folklore: The Margot fairy is associated with the monument, hence its local name of Grotte-aux-Fées.
